Jed Olenick's Doctor No won the 2008 J120 Fleet 4 High Point Championship
Jed Olenick's Dr. No was victorious again in another race to Ensenada. This time, it was the Little Ensenada race from San Diego to the Mexican port. The race started in breezes gusting above 20 knots with a heavy quartering chop. Rick von Heydenreich's Quetzalcoatl took the early lead but was quick caught by John Laun's caper. caper kept a slim lead over the "Q" boat until Dr. No dropped down from a starboard group of boats to tangle with John Laun's boat, while Quetzalcoatl dropped back a bit. Dr. No pulled away as Quetzalcoatl came back to challenge caper. Dr. No finished the 62 mile race just under 7 hours as the sun was setting. caper was second by 5 minutes followed by Quetzalcoatl, another 21 seconds back. Click HERE for results.
CC Rider, owned by Chuck Nichols continued it's success by winning J-Fest held this year in San Diego. John Snook's JIM finished second followed by John Laun's caper.
This year, the J120 North Americans were held at Cal Race Week sponsored by Cal Yacht Club in Marina Del Rey.
